Mimer’s cultural center houses Kungälv’s city library, theater, exhibition hall, assembly halls, cultural school, youth activities KultLab and Mimer’s café.
The art gallery
In the Art Gallery, visitors can take part in several interesting art exhibitions per year. The selection is varied, with an emphasis on contemporary art by professional artists. The hall is 120 square meters with seven meter high ceilings and a beautiful glazed facade facing the courtyard street outside. All exhibitions have free admission.
KultLab
KultLab is an open space with a focus on young culture. Here, young people can hang out with their friends and play video games, make coffee and crafts, play board games, bake, watch movies and much more! KultLab offers: Music studio with the opportunity to play music in the rehearsal room or make music in the music studio. Studio with the possibility to paint and create and a dance hall for dance and theater. There are also opportunities to participate in various courses and workshops. The activities are aimed at all young people from year 7 up to the age of 20. All activities are free.
Mimer’s theater
Mimer’s theater gives full-length performances and concerts. The repertoire is broad and usually includes both charged relationship dramas and the local Kungälv revue. The theater hosts concerts with high-quality music in various genres, classical, pop and rock, with guest artists or musicians from the region. The theater has 341 seats.
Space for meetings
Mimers Hus is built to be a meeting place and offers great opportunities for companies and associations to rent rooms to hold conferences. There are meeting rooms for 20-340 people, a good environment and technical conditions for a successful conference.
A house for knowledge
Mimers Hus offers opportunities for many different types of education from 16 years and up. Here you will find upper secondary school and upper secondary special school with national and individual programs as well as adult education. Lifelong learning in an organization with an emphasis on the student and their personality development, student influence and inspiring and safe environments are some important goals in the municipality’s school plan.
Books and digital media
The library has books and magazines from all corners of the world, music, movies and games to borrow. There are also plenty of reading spaces, public computers and wireless internet access. The reading and writing room provides special assistance for people with reading difficulties. If you can’t get to the library, books are delivered to your home – with a special service for disabled people. The library also offers a wide range of activities: story hours and workshops, book circles and author meetings, information sessions on the Internet and e-books – to name but a few.
