In Sweden’s Defibrillator Register (SHR), all owners of a public defibrillator can register their defibrillator free of charge so that it becomes visible to the public and the emergency center. This is so that it can be used in the event of a sudden, unexpected cardiac arrest.
The purpose of the register is primarily to increase survival in the event of cardiac arrest in society, but also to be used in research to e.g. increase knowledge of where the defibrillators should best be placed. The register is national and owned by the Swedish CPR Council.
The register’s map is used in an app by volunteer lifesavers (Sms lifesavers) who are alerted by the emergency center in the event of cardiac arrest nearby.
