Cykelköket Gamlestan

Cykelköket Gamlestan (“The Bike kitchen Gamlestan”) is a open Do-It-Yourself workshop for everyone who needs to fix or service their bike. Their ambition is to raise the status of the bicycle and biking in general, as well as providing a social meeting place for bike interested people of all ages. Their workshop is open on a regular basis and also offer courses and workshops on bike mechanics. Become a member for 100 SEK (2025) and you get an old bike that volunteers show you how to fix. They are located in Gamlestan, but have pedal powered capacities to come to e.g. festivals, companies or environmental exhibitions.

Public education and communal learning is a crucial part of their activities. Anyone, regardless of their level of knowledge, is welcome to participate and to get involved. Cykelköket even operates as a recycling center for discarded and abandoned bicycles and bicycle parts. They work together with e.g. landlords in order to collect bikes in need of fixing, that can then be offered to those in need of a bike.
