Cykelköket Gamlestan

Cykelköket is a free DIY workshop for anyone who needs to repair or service their bicycle. Here you can borrow tools and get help from a “kitchen master” while you repair your bicycle yourself. This bicycle kitchen also “rescues” bicycles that would otherwise be thrown away. As a member, you can get one used bicycle per year, which you can refurbish yourself. Membership costs SEK 200/year (2026). If you already have a bicycle, you don't need to become a member to come there when it's open and fix or borrow tools.

Public education and communal learning is a crucial part of their activities. Anyone, regardless of their level of knowledge, is welcome to participate and to get involved. Cykelköket even operates as a recycling center for discarded and abandoned bicycles and bicycle parts. They work together with e.g. landlords in order to collect bikes in need of fixing, that can then be offered to those in need of a bike.
