Gothenburg’s Orchards

In the city of Gothenburg there are a number of different fruit groves where we can pick fruit for our own use. Time to start making jams and juices or just relax in a lush apple orchard?

The Altplatsen fruit orchard is located a stone's throw from Altplatsen. If you walk from there towards Fiolgatan, it is located between the houses there. The area consists of a grassy area with smaller built-up hills. Next to the fruit orchard is a boules court and a playground, which is located on the tenant-owner association's land. There are benches and tables here to sit and have a coffee. The fruit orchard consists of three apple trees, four plum trees, six cherry trees and five walnut trees.

In Backa röd's fruit orchard there are 15 apple trees, 1 pear tree and 3 cherry trees. The fruit orchard at Backa röd was established in 2013, next to Krumeluren's playground and local sports field. In the adjacent cultivation area there is a pear tree and two apple trees, which you can also pick from. The cultivation plots themselves are managed by Backa röd growers.

The Bergkristallparken orchard consists of nine apple trees, three pear trees, prunes, plums and cherries, which were planted in 2012. It is located in the park that connects Bergkristallgatan and Beryllgatan. Next to the orchard there is an activity area and leisure activities. In 2015, the park was renovated, including a skate and action area.

Billdalsparken's fruit orchard consists of 34 apple trees, of 17 different varieties. The fruit orchard in Billdals park was planted in 2014, as part of the renovation of the park, which began at that time. The trees are planted near the Manor. The trees have been placed with consideration for old maps of the park, probably a kitchen garden was located here in the past.

The fruit grove in Eriksbo has 8 apple trees, 5 pear trees, cherries and currants. It is beautifully situated on a slope, near Eriksboskolan. There is a round picnic table in the middle of the fruit grove.

Gårdstensdalen's fruit orchard has 15 apple trees, 7 pear trees and 5 cherry trees. It was established in 2013 in a green area behind Gårdstensskolan. The green area also has tennis courts and a playground.

The fruit orchard in Hisingsparken has 20 apple trees, 6 pear trees, 3 plum trees and 5 cherry trees. It was planted in 2014, but there are also old fruit trees. Here you can sit down in one of the hammocks and enjoy.

The fruit grove is located at Hisingsparken's excursion playground, which has a large apple for kids to play in.

Karlsofältets fruit orchard consists of about twenty fruit trees (pears, apples and plums). The fruit trees were moved here from the former fruit grove in the landeriparken at Korsvägen, as they needed a new location when work on Västlänken train connection started.

The site is located just south of Annedalsmotet, which connects Dag Hammarskjöldsleden with Per Dubbsgatan, which goes up towards The Sahlgrenska Hospital.

Positivparken's fruit orchard has 6 apple trees and 4 pear trees. There are also currants, gooseberries, blackberries and blueberries. The fruits and berries are of different varieties and flavors, so they ripen at slightly different times.

The fruit garden was established in 2012, at Ekebäcksgården between Positivparken's parkour and playground. There are also chairs and tables where you can sit down for a while.

Slottsskogen's fruit orchard has 8 apple trees, 4 pear trees, 5 plum trees, 12 cherry trees and several different kinds of berries, such as strawberries, gooseberries, wild strawberries, currants, raspberries, arctic raspberries, American blueberries and even rhubarb.

The fruit grove was planted in 2014, as part of the work for Gothenburg's 400th anniversary. It is located at Vebacken, between Ekonomigården and Dalen's outdoor gym. It is like a small park within the park with winding paths, benches – and trees and bushes of course.

Stobbée's garden orchard in Klippan consists of 12 apple trees, 3 pear trees, 7 apricot trees, 5 plum trees and 1 cherry tree, which were planted at different times. Most of the trees are old and fully grown.

The fruit orchard is located in Stobée's garden, which is located in the Klippan cultural reserve.

The Vårvädersgatan orchard consists of 6 apple trees, 3 pear trees, 4 plum trees and 3 mulberry trees. They were planted here in 2013.

The orchard is located in a small park, which is surrounded by low apartment buildings and the road there from Vårväderstorget goes through some cherry trees. There are some larger elms and lindens at the orchard and a cultivation area run by a cultivation association.
