Ödet
Ödet is an “urban community center,” a house for circular and collaborative economy.
Sofielund, Malmö
There's a lot going on at Ödet, and they even have a tool bank. In addition to that:
- The property – is owned by Torben and Lotte Ohlander, who have a vision of creating a local hub for eco-social sustainability.
- Co-working and accommodation – On the upper floor, apartments are rented out to students interested in circularity (a cargo bike is included in the rent), and on the lower floor there are opportunities for shared office space.
- Test bed – the house is used for various types of testing, such as the sharing economy, pre-incubator programs, social events, etc. For example, Co-Habit has premises and Kinto carpooling is available. They are investigating various collaborations to see how the house and garage can be converted into a space for workshops, meetings, repairs, etc.
- Economic association – Ödet economic association was started in 2024 with the aim of becoming a legal entity, building a membership base, and promoting small-scale circular businesses.
- Conferences/workshops – It is possible to rent Ödets ground floor + courtyard building for half-day or full-day workshops, with food and refreshments from local producers who are active in the neighborhood.
- Incubator – a pre-incubator was implemented in the fall of 2024 to explore a model for small-scale circular businesses. In early 2025, they will evaluate the concept and investigate funding opportunities for an expanded version of this concept.
The opening hours are when they have a so-called house elf who can show you around the business.
